چکیده

This chapter introduces the scope of book—bioMIMETICS can be described as an innovative form technology that imitates (or mimics) nature in order to improve human lives via creating desirable solutions. It is study and natural phenomena, principles, underlying mechanisms, obtain bio-inspired may benefit various applied scientific technological disciplines. Smart/Intelligent nano-bioMaterials for Tissue Engineering Regenerative Medicine are a fine example. Yet, biomimicry go above beyond simplistic inspiration use properties basis innovation new products. bridges gap between lab industry, intra-disciplinary design formulation functional solutions combining knowledge, methods, techniques, advances fields chemistry, biology, architecture, engineering, medicine, pharmaceutics, dentistry, biomedical engineering. Three-Dimensional Printing, Hybrid nanoCoatings, Stimuli-sensitive -responsive Cell/Drug Delivery Systems, Robotics some topics covered this book. In first chapter, general overview materials, technologies, strategies, collectively known “bioMiMETICS,” presented bridge laboratory “bench-top” translational application, particularly, clinic or “bed-/chair-side,” with focus on “REGENERATIVE DENTISTRY” “CRANIO-MAXILLO-FACIAL bio-COMPLEX.”

Spatial Mapping and Map Exploitation: A Bio-inspired Engineering Perspective

Probabilistic robot mapping techniques can produce high resolution, accurate maps of large indoor and outdoor environments. However, much less progress has been made towards robots using these maps to perform useful functions such as efficient navigation. This paper describes a pragmatic approach to mapping system development that considers not only the map but also the navigation functionality...

A communication system supporting simultaneous planning and execution in cranio-maxillo-facial surgery.

This paper describes the development of a system for simultaneous planning and execution of surgical operations in the cranio-maxillo-facial area. Simultaneous planning and execution is the process of taking an implicit task description, planning a sequence of explicit execution commands (e.g. for robots) and monitoring their execution. As the execution planning process is run completely on-lin...

My Trip to the XXI Congress of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery

295 It has already been a month since I went to Dubrovnik, Croatia to attend the congress for the European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery (EACMFS), but I still treasure the memories I made there. I can still remember the excitement designing the poster last winter, the joy I felt when my poster was accepted, the five days I spent in Croatia, full of wonder and an eagerness to see...

Dental and cranio-facial aspects of Williams Syndrome

Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder caused by a hemizygote micro-deletion mapped to the long arm of chromosome 7.The main symptoms are a distinctive facial appearance, psychomotor retardation with friendly behaviour and cardiovascular malformations. This case report describes the anomalies of the cranio-facial complex and the cephalometric aspects which are characteristic of this syndr...

Vorticella: A Protozoan for Bio-Inspired Engineering

In this review, we introduce Vorticella as a model biological micromachine for microscale engineering systems. Vorticella has two motile organelles: the oral cilia of the zooid and the contractile spasmoneme in the stalk. The oral cilia beat periodically, generating a water flow that translates food particles toward the animal at speeds in the order of 0.1–1 mm/s. The ciliary flow of Vorticella...
